Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment with a slot for them. The item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be used. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as as some non-ascended items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns. A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it is applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of the equipment that require fewer Upgrade Crystals than is required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods. A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defence attributes of an armored weapon or. These upgrades are available to be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. This means that the same armor piece will get the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item also has its own set bonus. This can be a downside in that the item could increase in price even if you do not need it. If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This can be beneficial but it should not be repeated often since it could waste resources. Certain upgrades can increase their value, allowing players to customize their equipment. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or is able to swim like a dolphin). It can be upgraded multiple times, each time raising the maximum roll by a factor of 10. This item is extremely valuable in PvP. A well-rolled version can be worth 50 times the value of a unupgraded counterpart. Failures can cause the item to revert to its original state, requiring the player to pay more for materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades. If an item is not upgraded the experience bar in the bar for growth will be reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it gained like the chance to crit attack damage, additional effects (such as an increase in healing over time, or the speed of reloading). However, the user can still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure. Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that, when a weapon gains an increase in its crit chance, the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. Slots is a brand-new attribute that was added to item definitions. The value is recalculated every time an upgrade occurs. The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are determined by its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost for upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade. For example, a common equipment item could have five upgrades, each costing 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items will have an incredibly lower cost for each upgrade. Premium items may have different upgrade requirements from normal equipment.
